In October, 1990, five employees of the commercial printing division of the McIntosh Publishing Company bought out the assets of Mac Print and re-opened as Ultra Print Services Ltd. The five partners and three additional staff began supplying small quantity basic printed materials, primarily to businesses of the Battlefords and surrounding communities. Ultra Print realized significant growth and new clients were demanding larger quantities and more complex types of printing. In 1994, they bought and moved to a new and larger facility. It became obvious that if the company was to compete in the new age of high quality, quick turnaround printing, major changes were needed.

In December 1996, two of the original five owners were bought out and Ultra Print started down an exciting new path. Small duplicator presses were replaced with high quality Heidelberg offset presses. Digital laser color and black copiers were installed to be able to accommodate the high quality/small quantity market. The older cutter, folder, shrink tunnel and booklet makers were replaced with modern new machines. In 2005 Ultra Print became one of the first printers in Saskatchewan to convert to digital pre-press work flow including an AGFA Palladio computer to plate system. Diversification continued with digital wide format printers capable of making large signs, banners and decals.  Five graphic designers now work on state-of-the-art IMac computers.

Today, Ultra Print has twenty full-time and two part-time employees. The staff consists of a diverse group, some starting their careers in the industry while others have been printing for over 30 years. They remain the major supplier of printing in the Battlefords, as well as to clients across Canada. The success of the company is a result of providing high quality products for fair prices and a level of service that is rare in todays print market. Three of the original company founders still own the business and work at Ultra Print full time.
